ParaWorld is a real-time strategy PC game released on September 25, 2006. It was developed by the German company SEK (Spieleentwicklungskombinat), based in Berlin. The game features more than 50 prehistoric animals, especially dinosaurs and Pleistocene mammals.
ParaWorld is a real-time strategy game set in a parallel version of the 19th century where dinosaurs and ice age creatures never became extinct. Armed with dinosaurs and human weapons, players lock into either single-player or multiplayer combat. Up to eight players can battle each other in more than 15 multiplayer levels. Most units are also given humorous "annoyed" responses similar to Warcraft and StarCraft.

[edit] Plot summary[1]
The plot summary in this article or section is too long or detailed compared to the rest of the article. Please edit the article to focus on discussing the work rather than merely reiterating the plot. |
A group of 19th-century scientists under the command of the exceptional mathematician Jarvis Babbit discover the method for traveling to another dimension, where dinosaurs and primitive human tribes still inhabit Earth. When they discover they don't ever age in this dimension, they decide to remain there to rule. Now flash-forward to the modern age, where three young scientists discover the dimension-jumping method for themselves, American Geologist Anthony Cole, Swedish Biologist Stina Holmlund, Hungarian Physics genius Béla Andràs Benedek. The 19th century scientists find out about this, and try to prevent the three scientists from releasing information about this parallel dimension by trapping them in the hostile ParaWorld.
The three scientists serve as your core "hero" units, and you'll control them as they go through the game trying to figure out how to get home. This involves firstly helping the Norsemen defeat the local Barbarians, when the young scientists realize they are on a parallel world they travel to an island where an Arch Druid lives, and saving the island and its "Holy Mammoths" from invading Dustriders, saving a trader from vile Amazons, helping a Dustrider tribe fend off an army of Barbarians, traveling to a so called "Holy City" to ask for help, but they caught up in a wild pirate chase. They get the hostages back, but are then set on quests to show that they are the Chosen ones. This involves restoring water to the desert, and getting back a lost prophet via the icewastes of Valhalla, and Dragon Clan territory, finishing off the last of the barbarians. Along the way they meet Nikolaj Taslow, who seems to be based on Nicola Tesla, and James Warden who is based on Charles Darwin, two of the greatest animal and mechanical masterminds in both worlds. When they reach the old temple complex, they find that the prophet is really a man called David Leighton, one of Babbit's henchmen. After his interrogation they find out that the Governor is in league with the SEAS. The heroes are thrown into the arena to show that they are the chosen ones. They defeat the Governor's bodyguards and royal animals, then the Governor himself; unfortunately, Leighton escapes. They then go to a telescope on a remote island that Leighton told them about, only to find that the SEAS have destroyed it. After they repair it, they then fight a sea battle against the SEAS fleet, with the help of the Norsemen and the Dustriders. After that they prepare the Holy City for attack. Once they fend off the main attack they attack the nearby SEAS base. The SEAS have lost the battle for the holy city. During the conflict James Warden's Allosaurus is killed, then James Warden is killed by David Leighton. After burring Warden Stina is extremely angry at Leighton for what he did. The 3 heroes track Leighton down to the SEAS hidden base in the ash valley. They come across a Prison where Ada is being held. The 3 heroes prepare their forces to attack the prison guards. After destroying the SEAS main base they destroy the defenses around Ada's prison and she tells them that Jarvis plans to use a giant jet engine, powered by geothermal energy, to move Paraworld out of it's orbit to permanently close the gates, which will cause extreme and permanent damage to the ecosystem. Bela tells Taslow that they can use a computer to plug in the coordinates into the gate machine to go home. Since electrical devices don't work in Paraworld they decide to use a machine Jarvis uses to control the Engine. As soon as they are about to assault the SEAS base, the engine activates and they must go and deactivate the pump stations to save Paraworld. They manage to deactivate the stations and stop the countdown. Stina gets revenge on Leighton by cutting his arms off and they make for the heart of the volcano. Inside, Babbit gives a last ditch effort by donning an exo-enforcer suit and using it to command a giant Scorpian robot. They defeat the robot and the suit. Cole and Ada try to save Babbit but he falls into the lava and (supposedly) dies. Stina, Ada, Bela and Cole go back into their time while Taslow stays in the volcano. Later, Bela rings Cole in the middle of the night to tell him the dinosaurs have come through as well, and are terrorising London. Bela manages to save a few people, but then, a T-rex assaults a bus, and the story ends with an allosaur trying to eat the Archaeopteryx from the opening cinematic.
