para-Cresidine is an intermediate that is used to create dyes and pigments. It is a light yellow to light brown solid with the chemical formula C8H11ON or CH3OC6H3(CH3)NH2. It has a molecular mass of 137.2 and its CAS number is 120-71-8. para-Cresidine's RTECS number is BZ6720000. It looks like white crystals. Its carcinogen category is 2, and upon heating it produces toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides. It reacts with strong oxidants and some forms of plastic, rubber, and coatings. para-Cresidine is possibly carcinogenic to humans. It boils at 235 °C, melts at 51.5 °C, and is not very soluble in water.
