[edit] Summary
Author: Sean McMullin, self-created image for use in basic articles dealing with parse trees, nodes, branches, X-Bar theory, linguistic theory.
Hi Sean, Would you consider displaying two images in row:
[1] Noun Phrase as is ; & [2] duplicate except all NP ==> DP ? (Perhaps flatten to make a more readable row?)
(Currently, the original may fail to transit smoothly to the page. I lack knowledge about wiki construction.)
Current grammars argue that the DP img would be left of the NP original since this label increasingly
may become obsolete in this position (Steven Abney, 1987, and many subsequent constructions).
Do you hold this POV about expressing the alternation? Problem?
Best regards, Ken
