Talk:Panda (band)

[edit] genre
i think we should consider adding punk pop or emo, or both really, to the genre. the bands their riffs sound so incredibly similar to (by pure coincidence of course) are all either punk pop (green day, sum 41, mext, mxpx) or emo - in the punk pop sense (mcr, fall out boy). im not entirely sure if pop rock is that accurate, but i guess it fits them well enough. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.108.190.223 (talk) 19:10, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

ok, i know some people dont like panda, but its so childish and immature to say "panda is full of shit" on wikipedia. go argue about it on youtube or something.zuki2love
[edit] Plagiarism Issue
Hmmm. This article is certainly misleading. The plagiarism issue, besides being extremely well-known, has been documented and asked towards the band in important mexican radio stations and television channels, like Reaktor and Telehit, and the band has barely objected to it. In fact, they kinda have accepted their fault. --148.241.26.163 03:55, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
This musical group has gotten overwhelming attention because of their talent and musical originality and underserved criticism for a few words similar in graphic depiction as others in the punk music world. They have been making music for many years and their songs reflect their growth as artists. Happy punk is not really a genre and they do not recognize themselves as "happy" but they do as rockers. This is one of the few bands in Latin America that truly composes and plays only rock. Most of the new artists that have public recognition in Mexico and Spanish speaking countries are really a modern pop/ballad that is reminiscent of a pre-rock and roll era where boleros and rumbas were the order of the day. Panda keeps true to their r&r faith. Although they could very well sing in English, their spirit is glued to Spanish, at least for the moment. Their recent CD, Para Ti Con Desprecio, was a hit and their constant touring in Mexico and Latin America has proven it. Critics have not been able to disuade thousands of fans that attest their love for this original and pleasant music. Their videos appear regularly on MTVE, Telehits and many other Latin Music TV stations and their songs play constantly throughout modern Spanish music radio channels.
-So what?? that doesn't mean they didn't plagiarized songs, it is well documented and an issue that has relevance to the article. You just sound like an angry fan. It should be a separate section, I can help document it and set it to Wikipedia standards, not to fans standards.
[edit] Who Changed It?
A certain MCR fansite has alluded to stolen lyrics, riffs, etc? Listen here, more than 1 group of people on this earth see it, and the Pandasuxxx (I believe) site is a good example showing what may have been stolen. CD Amadeus 09:27, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure who translated the lyrics but they did a pretty shoddy job, to say the least. For instance, y apesta la pinga creo que tengo mantequilla de mani en los testiculos does NOT translate to "and from death I will return you and take you back". I'm not sure what pinga is. And I'm pretty sure I don't want to know, but it rougly translates to "And the (whatever pinga means) smells. And I think I have butter on my testicles." It's basically the same with all the other lyrics. They're not even close to what the previous tranlator thought they were. LatinaEinstein 23:34, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Who
Who was the person that put that panda copied paris hilton,Kelly clarkson, and eminem Do you have any proof?
[edit] Needs revising
This article is poorly written (bad grammar, spelling, and structure). The author also needs to cite some of his sources.
- Agreed, especially on the needed citations. I added the citations missing template to the top of the page and did a little work on grammar correction. I'll try to help with some more fixes, as time permits. Sky (talk) 00:24, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism
Someone took out the lyrics once again, however, this is documented and sourced, it is not original research, and I think it's important to let people judge from themselves whether the lyrics are or aren't plagiarized. Not sure what everybody else thinks. Solid Reign 12:50, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- The lyrics and that information must be in a forum. You say that it is documented and sourced but where is it documented?, is it in a forum?, in a personal web page? I'd like you add a trusted and real source. --Coraje 16:58, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Why is this an unreal source? This information was originally published in a personal website (www.zod.com.mx) in the first place. Check the lyrics from the website and you will find the lyrics are correct. Whether the reader thinks that the Panda lyrics resemble the My Chemical Romance lyrics is up to them. This was posted in lawaloca however it is a mirror of what was in www.zod.com.mx which does not exist anymore. So, if there is no reason as to why we should distrust the website I say we should keep them. I will try adding more sources, but, unless you have a reason to suspect that this website should not be trusted, I ask you not to remove them. Solid Reign 22:59, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Last time I checked this page it had an explanation of why people thought panda plagiarized songs from other bands as well as links (sources) to the websites that claimed this alleged plagiarism of lyrics. But now it's been replaced by a badly written "sentence" that uses the weasel words "Some people says[sic]," and the sources have been removed. Based on what Solid Religion wrote, this has happened before. This reeks of vandalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Vandalism). I think I'll wait a little while to see if it really is vandalism before taking any action though.
My disclaimer:I love Panda, I really really do. But as far as the issue of their alleged plagirism, well I'm not sure what to think anymore. I found this website http://www.geocities.com/anti_pxndx/. It's a little harsh, to say the least. But it presents a lot of evidence. Someone who knows what they're doing(i.e. not me) should really check it out. LatinaEinstein 20:21, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Weasel Words
I've removed the "weasel words" warning (I was the one who put it there originally). Though the weasel words are still there ("According to some websites..." etc..), sources have been added for "those websites." I still think that the wording should be changed, but I'll leave that to whoever wrote that part of the article.
We all know that Panda plagiarized those lyrics, but, according to Wikipedia stadards, saying "some people say" isn't enough. You have to cite your sources. Now it's worse than it was before. Someone changed it. At least before it had sources. Now those sources have been removed as well.
[edit] About PXNDX Lyrics!!!
These are the lyrics of the songs "Miedo A Las Alturas (Fear To The Heights)" of Panda and " It's Not To Fashion Statement, It's To Deatwish " of My Chemical Romance. Notice that some phrases are similar.
This is the translation to english:
You remember when you said to me difficult it's going to be, It was what happened, and You promised that when I die, you would guard my heart, The damage that you caused, it was the only thing that could kill, temporary wounds, it was not enough, attack me, if I will know.
And from the death I will return, will take you with me of return and will recover, the life you stole me.
Life goes away, helps me to think it, those brilliant lights, they were not killing me. Alone your and I, your eyes there is no color, I will avenge my ghost with all my heart
The hole wasn't deep enough, I am going out of it. The places end you where you can hide, where you can hide.
If you go away, you never forget that I will remember you, I know very well, that at the end your and I we will be together, I have lost the fear of fall, the fear to the heights, I will jump with you, if you go away, you never forget that I you will remember you.
Now, compare the previous lyrics with the following one
My Chemical Romance - It's Not A Fashion Statement...
For what you did to me, and what I'll do to you, you get, what everyone else gets, you get a lifetime
Let's go!
Do you remember that day when we met you told me this gets harder, well it did, been holding on forever, promise me that when I'm gone, you'll kill my enemies, the damage you've inflicted, temporary wounds, I'm coming back from the dead and I'll take you home with me, I'm taking back the life you stole
We never got that far, this helps me to think all through the night bright lights that, won't kill me now, or tell me how just you and I, your starless eyes remain.
Hip Hip Hooray for me, you talk to me, but would you kill me in my sleep lay still like the dead from the razor to the rosary we could lose ourselves and paint these walls in pitchfork red
I will avenge my ghost with every breath I take I'm coming back from the dead and I'll take you home with me I'm taking back the life you stole
This hole that you put me in wasn't deep enough and I'm climbing out right now you're running out of places to hide from me when you go just know that I will remember you if living was the hardest part we'll then one day be together and in the end we'll fall apart just like the leaves change in colors and then I will be with you I will be there one last time now
when you go just know that I will remember you
I lost my fear of falling I will be with you I will be with you

Panda is full shit
[edit] Restored Criticism
I restored the criticism section I had originally written, the new one made no sense (made some mention about the bands email addresses and the singers poor voice, very biased). I'm adding it here in case the website is vandalized again I can find it and not go looking around for it. -Solid Reign 06:39, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
According to some websites the band has been involved in alleged plagiarism of music and lyrics from bands such as My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy. However, Panda insists that their songs are original, and no legal action against them has been taken to date[citation needed]. An example of this can be seen between the lyrics in Panda's song Miedo a las Alturas and My Chemical Romance's It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish, where Panda's Lyrics:
y de la muerte yo regresare y te buscare (and from death I will return and search for you)
te llevare conmigo de regreso y recuperare (I will take you back with me and recover)
la vida me robaste vida se va eso me ayuda a pensar (the life you stole from me, life goes away that helps me think)
aquellas luces brillantes no me mataran (those bright lights will not kill me)
Bear, according to these websites, a striking resemblance to My Chemical Romance's Lyrics:
I'm coming back from the dead and I'll take you home with me
I'm taking back the life you stole
We never got that far,
this helps me to think all through the night
bright lights that, won't kill me now [1][2][3][4]

The link's broken. So I'm going to change it. Just letting you guys know. LatinaEinstein 01:00, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pop
Errrrmm...how is Panda Pop? Isn't it rather rock? I mean, Pop is something totally different... I'm changing this! (Me-pawel 00:51, 20 April 2007 (UTC))
hahaha so now your a rocker? hahahaha lemme tell you something... the day someone of the bands that need the help of MTV and shit llike that start to says something rather than "I love you" and "I hate you" and start to sound more like AC/DC, the Yabirds, or stuff like that then you CAN call them rock, cuz pop IS very different from pop, and pop rock its just a "heavy" version or pop, still pop shit anyways...
Here I have a source to change the pop punk thing to rock pop... you know... the "heavy" version of pop. --Sheish 6 Sheish 23:10, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Proofs of plagiarism
I read a post in a blog that talks about a interview with the leader of Panda. I'll ask the person who wrote it if I can translate it for you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 190.11.1.57 (talk) 16:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC).
[edit] About plagiarism
plagiarism is not new in the music world but this is not the case. it´s similar but its not identical it could just be pure coincidential or just based on the ideas. To the article it should be added that the band hasnt been affected by this neither the fans. Panda has response to the Haters with the song !AH PERO COMO VENDO CASSETTES¡ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.108.35.156 (talk) 02:31, 16 May 2007 (UTC).
- First, please sign your comments... Second, it is not similar... They haven't only immitated riffs, which could be considered coincidental... They have copied almost complete song lyrics. Who removed the section talking about plagiarism? I think it should go back there, cause if not, people will keep on vandalising (just like one line I just removed that said they were going to be sued soon). They haven't been sued, but it has really affected fans, many people started hating Panda after they realised they have copied songs from MCR, Greenday, Sum 41, Allister, etc etc. Even though some of them liked Panda before. Please don't say it hasn't affected the fans because it HAS... Now, can someone put a decent section about the plagiarism?--Cancerbero 8 01:05, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
you're right three-headed dog, this article should have the plagiarism section... maybe I was never a fan of Panza (n_n sorry... my mistake XD) but... ok... I had always hated panda but that's not the point... I mean, even with the hatred I have against maistreem "rock" in latin america and the "punk" world wide, i gotta write with a neutral point of view, and I think that that section should be added --Sheish 6 Sheish 03:54, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism Section (again)
The original accusations were done in a personal webpage, so I do not see why we can't have a personal webpage as a source. I'm readding the criticism section, and I'm adding the archive.org cache of what that page was like (since it has been taken off). If someone feels that the webpage is unreliable because of something they are writing than please let me know. The facts in the webpage are correct though. Do you not think that it is understandable to add the original source, the one that brought up all of these accusations? Solid Reign (talk) 21:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
