Panton (merchant)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Panton was a Muskogean merchant active in the Gulf of Mexico trade during the late 18th century.
His activities as a merchant put him in direct conflict with those of William Augustus Bowles. The latter on being driven out of the Muskogean lands, took up piracy with British aid, and made Panton's ships his main targets.
