Pano Akil is a taluka of Sukkur District in the Sindh province of Pakistan^[1]. It is located approximately 40km north of the capital Sukkur. Pakistan's largest cantonment is located in Pano Akil. The Mohallas in this city include Indher Colony, Basheerabad, Shaikh Muhalla, Mandar Gali, Masan Muhalla, Gharibabad, Bashirabad, Irrigation Colony. It consists of 12 union councils^[1] and 516 villages.

The city in its outlook is like conventional towns of Sindh but its citizens are unique than other inhabitants of the province. They are kind in nature and their hospitality is worth admirable.

The city can be accessed by railway link as it is located on main railway line of Pakistan, the national highway also passes by west of the city, so if you have your own car then you can get into city easily. Similarly, buses and A.C coaches can also be caught from various cities including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Sukkur etc. to reach Pano Akil. International airport of Sukkur is also at a distance of few kilometres from here. The city is inter-connected through roads and streets. Mustafai Choke, Baiji Choke, Saduja Choke, Eid Gah Choke, Sanwal Waro Choke and Garibabad chowk are major stops of the city.

Pano Akil is basically an agricultural area as its land is fertile while water is also available in appropriate quantity.But some agro-based industries including Mahar Cotton Factory, Habib cotton(Indher Colony), Mahar Floor Mill, Najeeb Boon Mills, Bhutta Group of Industries and Wood Factories. It supplies major amount of vegetables, fruits and cotton crops to the other parts of country.

The educational institutions of Pano Akil are of high reputation in Sindh and students of the city grab top positions in the Board exams and Higher Education Entry tests. Mehran Model School, Roshan Tara School, Al-Shahabaz, Govt Boys and Girls Higher Secondary Schools, Degree College Pano Akil are a few of the top ranked institutions.

Pano Akil's estimated population is 245,187 in an area of 1233 square miles. Sayed, Abbasi, Jatoi, Qazi, Bhayaa, Chachar, Samejo, Indher, Shaikh, Kalhora, Bhutta, Mahar,Kalwar, Channa, Arain, Simair, Sahito, Soomra, Mahesar, Korai, Bulla, Mirani, Bhellar, Muhammadi, Lanjar and other tribes live in the taluka. Population wise, the Chachar tribe is in majority. The Besides a major population of Hindu community and some Christian families also have residence and business in the city.
