The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 is a 7 megapixel point and shoot digital camera.[1] It features a 12 x Zoom lens and several modes of operation, which makes it a bridge digital camera.[2] The lens is manufactured by the German company Leica. An optical image stabilization system is embedded in the lens, reducing blurring by compensating for hand shake. As with most Panasonic cameras it uses a VENUS Engine: In this case, the DMC-FZ8 uses Panasonic's new Venus III engine, as opposed to the DMC-FZ7's Venus II engine.
The DMC-FZ8 was released in November of 2007 with a R.R.P of about the £300 mark.[citation needed] The camera is available in two colours with differing codes at the end of the model number black being -EBK and silver being -EBS.[citation needed] The camera has a 2.5" lcd screen with an electronic colour viewfinder as found on the FZ7 for which the FZ8 shares its chassis with.[citation needed]
