Panagiotis Papadopoulos

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Panagiotis Papadopoulos (known popularly as Panos) is a Greek, Swedish-based fashion designer and head of Panos Emporio AB, a swimwear company in Mölndal, Sweden.

Papadopoulos originally studied sociology at university and had a stint as a journalist in Greece. He claims that his sociological training gives him an insight into men's and women's behaviour, and that he uses this in his swimwear designs.[1]

He is not afraid to court publicity or controversy, and regularly appears in the Swedish media. Panos Emporio became known for using international celebrities or models, but, controversially, he has also used a drag queen to market one of his lines. He also defended his acquisition of the Miss Sweden pageant in the face of protests from feminist groups.[2]

In the early 2000s, Panos and his company also backed a motorcycle racer, as well as a candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest.
