Panagiotis Fasoulas (Greek: Παναγιώτης Φασούλας, nicknamed "the spider" (Greek: αράχνη); born May 12, 1963 in Thessaloniki, Greece) is a Greek politician and former professional basketball player.

[edit] Basketball career
During his professional career he played for PAOK BC and Olympiacos BC - with whom he won a European title in 1997. He was also a member of the Greek national team, where he was the starting center during Greece's Eurobasket 1987 victory. Fasoulas was also entered in the 1986 NBA Draft after a U.S. college career at North Carolina State.
One of the best big men in European basketball in the last 20 years. In Toronto, Canada, at the 1994 FIBA World Championship when Greece won the fourth place he played the best basketball of his career.

A charismatic personality, Fasoulas entered politics after retiring from sport, joining the political party of PASOK. He contributed in the organization of the Olympic games in Athens in 2004. He was elected Mayor of Piraeus on October 15, 2006.
