- Bondi was honored in 2005 as Italian-American Women of Excellence in the "Government" category by The Italian Club Ladies Auxiliary, Inc., Tampa. [1]
- She adopted a St. Bernard dog, Noah [2], after he was rescued from St. Bernard's Parish in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. [3] When the original owners located the dog and attempted to reclaim it, Bondi refused to return the dog. [4] In July 2006, a lawsuit was filed by the dog's original owners against Bondi seeking a transfer of custody of the dog. Ironically, Bondi hired prominent criminal defense attorney Barry Cohen (a frequent adversary to Tampa prosecutors) to defend her interests in this lawsuit. However, in May 2007, Bondi agreed to return the dog to its original owners [5].
