Pam Ann is the alter ego of Australian comedian Caroline Reid. Reid portrays the air-hostess Pam Ann, a mixture of drag, camp and glamour, and a pun on the airline Pan Am. Reid as Pam Ann can be seen on tour in the United Kingdom such as at The UCL Bloomsbury, she also has a guest-role in the BBC show Fasttrack. She also frequently conducts shows in major cities in the US, Canada and her native Australia.

Performances tend to emphasise the vagaries of air travel, including the identifying quirks of various airlines around the world, mixed with a generous dose of ribald humour and double entendre. Reid often caters to airline employees and frequent travellers in her audience, directly involving them in the performance.

In October 2007, Pam Ann starred in an online viral campaign for British Airways following her fictitious first day on the job, dealing with a variety of on board scenarios.

[edit] Elements of performance

Pam Ann Frequently performs cabaret routines, particularly in gay venues such as 2 Brewers in South London, playing alongside some of the UKs most critically respected drag performers. These routines rely heavily on audience participation and her very sharp tongue.

In recent years her success has led to several UK tours at regional theatres and arts centres, where the more formal surroundings have done little to dampen to spirit of the performances. These tours have also allowed her to develop some of her fledgling trolley dolly characters into a range of farcical international air hostesses with a wide range of character flaws and foibles. Pam Ann's love of re-editing old footage of airline disasters and retro air travel glamour with footage of herself is used as a useful tool to allow dozens of costume changes.

All the routines use risqué themes such as cocaine smuggling, terrorism and air staff incompetence, and if there are any political or social messages in the material then it remains well hidden.

Pam Ann has established a strong fan base based around London’s gay scene and UK based air crews, many of whom revel in the humiliating put downs they suffer during the shows.
