• Battle of Nu'uanu - A battle fought in May 1795 on the northern part of the island of O'ahu, where King Kamehameha I unified the Hawaiian Islands.

• Battle of Guam (1944) - A battle of the Pacific War of World War II, fought in the Mariana Islands in 1944 between the United States and the Empire of Japan.

• Industrial warfare - A period in the history of warfare brought on by the Industrial Revolution which saw the advent of rifling, steel, and the internal combustion engine.
