You can use this template with no parameters, and it will just say "This article incorporates text from the Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition, a publication now in the public domain."

Alternatively, the following optional parameters are available. These have been added in support of more robust citation:

article
Britannica article name.
url
a URL for the article online. Can only be used in conjunction with the article name.
author
author of the Britannica article. Can only be used in conjunction with the article name.

For example:

{{1911|article=Anarchism|author=[[Peter Kropotkin]]}}

produces

This article incorporates text from the Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition article "Anarchism" by Peter Kropotkin, a publication now in the public domain.
{{1911|article=Anarchism|author=[[Peter Kropotkin]]|url=http://62.1911encyclopedia.org/A/AN/ANARCHISM.htm}}

produces

This article incorporates text from the Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition article "Anarchism" by Peter Kropotkin, a publication now in the public domain.

(Unfortunately, that particular scanned copy is poor enough that it would not be worth linking from our article.)
