[edit] Exclusive use by emperor

I read one mention that by the time of Tacitus, only the emperor wore a paludamentum, but I'm not sure how reliable that is, so I didn't mention it here. If someone can cite a reliable source that would substantiate this, it seems worth mentioning. -Agyle 20:53, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
