Talk:Palmyra (disambiguation)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Apart perhaps from Palmyra, New York all the other places called Palmyra are far less important than the Palmyra, Syria, which is currently a redirect to Tadmor. This does seem a bit daft. I think the naming convention is that a place is known by its best known name in English, and therefore Tadmor (the modern name) should redirect to the historical name. Also, I suggest that Palmyra be about Palmyra, Syria, and that the current list of mostly US towns be moved to Palmyra (disambiguation). Any thoughts? Gareth Hughes 20:48, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Palmyra, tadmor should be by it self, and connected to syriacs, due to the fact it was a syriac kingdom, the same goes for Hatra, and Petra. eventhough the arabification of the cities and kingdoms has reached its max in these days. I would like to see that wikipedia stands for the truth. Suryoyo 12:43, 29 December 2005 (UTC) //Michael
- Palmyra (Syria) should redirect here (that article is a mess anyways, and contains nothing not in here). Tadmor already does. We can stress the history and naming a bit more in this articles introduction.--Stephan Schulz 11:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Disagree witht the move. All three major palmyra entry's have about the same number of edits, and moving the syria article here would place it above the others in importance. This may or not be the case in the states, but it seems unwise. the disambiguation page suffices. Let's leave as is. -Visorstuff 13:40, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, wrong talk page. My comment should have been on Talk: Palmyra, not here. I messed this up...--Stephan Schulz 14:19, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Whoever did the page move, it's all messed up. Palmyra's talk page links to Talk:Palmyra (disambiguation), rather than Talk:Palmyra. Can someone clean up? -Visorstuff 20:38, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
