[edit] Largest Mall

According to this article, the mall has 3 million square feet of floor space, of which 1.8 million is leaseable, which means it falls short of the ~2.2 million that Roosevelt Field Mall has. There exists a need to qualify how each mall claims its right to "largest mall in New York." --Meadowbrook 15:40, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

  • The mall has a huge amount of space that it cannot lease per its agreement with the local government. As such, its claim to be largest by total square footage is likely accurate, though its rank third nationwide by gross leasable area is almost certainly incorrect. I would use the ICSC database search info unless you have a more current reliable source. Alansohn 17:42, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Security?

I feel someone (possibly me) needs to write an article on the incompetant security officers at this mall. You would think that being the mall is one of the largest in the United States, you would not find all of them chatting in a circle outside while a fight is breaking out inside.. 01:20, 15 January 2007 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.193.81.111 (talkcontribs).

That's not what Wikipedia is for. Daniel Case 17:45, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Why is the slogan of Hogan's Diner relevant to an article about the Palisades Mall? I'm sure it was a fine establishment but seeing as it's not even there anymore...I know nothing about the place so I won't take the prerogative of removing it, but in my opinion it bears no relevance and kind of sticks out as a random trivia fact (perhaps there should be a trivia section that this would be more suited for?)

[edit] Confusing read

The care takers of the article need to clean up the intro. The stuff concerning the size of the mall makes it very difficult to read. If I read it correctly, it is the second largest mall in the US based upon total square feet. In terms of retail space it is #15. In NY it has the 2nd most retail space of a mall. But the intro is so convoluted in this regard, that I'm not sure. It is further complicated by a statement that makes no sense. It says that it is the 15th largest mall in retail space, but then lists 2 other malls as having more. This is usually done when dealing with a place that is only beaten by the other two locations---thus, it implies it is the 3rd largest mall.Balloonman 06:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV/OR

This entire passage:

There are four major "hot spots" on each floor: the east end (Macy's, the ice rink), the west end (Best Buy, Sports Authority, Modell's, Target), and two central areas. It would be inaccurate to say that there is a distinct "center" of the mall; it is better to think the central "hot spots" as foci of an ellipse. Though the mall does not specify any names for these areas, this article will refer to them as "west central" (JCPenney, Krazy City, AMC Theaters, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond) and the larger "east central" (CompUSA (formerly), Staples, the food court, Dave & Buster's). The defining feature of the "east central" area is its four elevators, three sets of escalators, carousel, ferris wheel, and the presence of the third floor food court.

.....is entirely POV, and/or OR. It needs to be cleaned up, or a have cited sources provided to support it. Nightscream 04:30, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I do know that, but when I wrote it I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it. It's true, though. If someone wants to take a snapshot of the directory at the mall and upload it, would that count as a citation? 67.84.66.81 (talk) 11:08, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

What exactly does the directory indicate? What precisely is a "hotspot"? Nightscream (talk) 12:48, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
I think they mean Wi-fi, but I'm not sure...TheListUpdater (talk) 17:27, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

It would only be relevant if it supports the above passage. Since the passage admits that the mall itself has no names for these areas, I'm guessing it doesn't. Nightscream (talk) 03:41, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nanuet Mall?

Should I mention that this mall laid waste to Nanuet Mall? TheListUpdater (talk) 17:27, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

It would be better to start the article on the Nanuet Mall first. Daniel Case (talk) 15:36, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

And you should only do so if you have sources for that assertion. Nightscream (talk) 16:22, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
