Talk:Paleopsychology

The following sentence is not true: "The term "paleopsychology" was first used in 1987 by evolutionary psychologist Kent Bailey in his book Human Paleopsychology: Applications to Aggression and Pathological Processes".
There were several German and Swiss psychologists active on that scientific field in the first half of the 20th century. The german word "Paläopsychologie" meaning a special subject in psychology is in use for at least 50 years now. Scientists using this term were Rudolf Bilz (1944), Richard Thurnwald (1951), Egon von Eickstedt (1953) and others. Kent Bayley may have been the first to publish the english term (which is questionable too). The term "palaeopsychic" was used in Granville Stanley Hall: Adolsecence. Its psychology and its relations to physiology, anthropology, sociology, sex, crime, religion, and education. 2 Bde, New York, London: Appleton 1904.

It also appears, albeit hyphenated, in Robertson Davies's novel The Rebel Angels (1981). ΧΑΟΓΝΩΣΙΣ (talk) 08:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
