Palais-Royal is correct. Palais Royal is an okay approximation. --Wetman 06:12, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

--- French Wikipedia gives a starting date of 1624 instead of 1629. Any sound reference to support one date over the other? --Wetman 18:11, 28 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Which Philippe?

French Wiki states also that Philippe II of Orleans (Louis' nephew) inherited the Palais-Royal from his father, Philippe I (Louis' brother). I'm afraid I messed about with the page for half-an-hour changing the relationship back and forth. I think it is correct now.
Certainly Philippe I (Monsieur) lived there with his brother, Louis, during their minority. But nowhere in either article (Eng or Fr) is there a date quoted for a formal handover to the Orleans family. Quite possibly, they just 'hung around' when Louis moved on, and what started as an informal arrangement only became officially formalised when Philippe II was allowed to 'inherit' what may or may not have been his father's to bequeath. Another reference required?
