Palomar Medical Center (PMC) is a hospital located in Escondido, California. PMC is operated by the Palomar Pomerado Health (PPH) District, which also operates Pomerado Hospital in nearby Poway. The hospital is the only designated trauma center in northern San Diego County.
[edit] Move To The ERTC - Palomar Medical Center West
PPH has plans to move the acute-care hospital in Escondido from the present location (PMC) to a totally new 653 bed hospital facility (PMC West) to be constructed in the Escondido Research and Technology Center (ERTC). PMC West has been termed the "hospital of the future" as a result of the thorough research and evidence-based design that have been incorporated into the planning of the facility. PMC West is slated to have decentralized nursing stations, acuity adaptable rooms, healing gardens and green roofs. Cost increases have caused delays in the construction of the new hospital.[1]
