Palmer Park Mall

The Palmer Park Mall is a 459,000 ft.² indoor one-story shopping mall located in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, in the United States. The mall is located at the intersection of PA Route 248 (Nazareth Road) and Park Avenue in Palmer Township, Northampton County.

The mall has over 40 stores and as anchored by Boscov's (192,110 ft.²) and The Bon-Ton (122,125 ft.²). The shopping mall is owned by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust company.

Palmer Park Mall primarily serves as the main shopping mall for residents of the lower Easton, PA area, including the townships of Forks, Palmer, and Williams, and the boroughs of Glendon, West Easton, and Wilson.

The mall also serves as a designated "metro transit center" for several LANTA Metro bus routes, where riders can transfer to different routes.

Palmer Park Mall opened in 1972 with 350,000 ft.² of retail space. [1]. Hess's and Clover department stores were the original two anchors of the mall.^{[citation needed]} The mall underwent a renovation in 1982.[2]

The mall experience a decline in business during the 1990's.^{[citation needed]} In 1994, the Hess's store closed and became a Bon-Ton. The Clover department store closed it doors in 1996. In 1997, Palmer Park Mall only had a 68% occupancy rate. [3].

The fortunes of the mall changed for the better in October of 1998 with the opening of Boscov's, which took over the space of the old Clover location.[4] The retail space was also expanded an additional 90,000 ft.² to accommodate Boscov's, bringing the total retail space of the mall up to 453,000 ft.². Mall traffic increased, and as of February 2007, no vacancies were listed for the Palmer Park Mall.[5]^{[citation needed]}
