Pallom is a small village on the highway from Kottayam to Trivandrum in southeastern India. The nearest airport is the Trivandrum airport. Access to pallom could be via the Main Central (MC road) by car (3.5 from trivadrum) or by train(4 hrs). It is a quiet community with religion being the centre of life. Primarily an agriculture-based community, in recent times some residents have found employment with the local government or have left to work abroad. The village is spotted with a few large mansions belonging to individuals who have achieved some financial success, usually by working abroad.Nothing has changed in the last half century in Pallom. The calm is broken by a local temple festival or the odd election. With its direct access to the backwaters , a few of the locals fish and live of the water. The possibility of floods due to large monsoon downpours still bother the natives.
