Paleontological Site Chiniquá

Site Palaeontological Chiniquá is located in the Brazilian city of São Pedro do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul. That the margins of the highway BR-287, with an area of about 250 hectar. It is located at 60 kilometers from the city of Santa Maria. The site belongs to geopark of paleorrota. It fossils of Triassic of Ladinian.
The activities at this location began in 1929 by paleontologist German Friedrich von Huene, many of the fossils collected were taken to Germany. Here were collected the Prestosuchus chiniquensis, Chiniquodon, Dinodontosaurus turpior, and others. Many fossils have already received the name of this place.
