Paleoctenophora brasseli
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paleoctenophora brasseli is an extinct species of ctenophore, known from Devonian slate near the German town of Buntenbach in the Hunsrück. It is approximately 400 million years old and shows already the eight comb rows familiar from modern ctenophores.
The same formation has also yielded another species, Archaeocydippida hunsrueckiana, which is in a somewhat worse condition but shows some features as for example the comb rows in greater detail.
