Palani G Periyasamy is industrialist, economist, educationalist and a visionary. He is chairman of Chennai based PGP group of companies. He is native of Namakkal, Tamilnadu India. He is a Non Resident Indian living in USA.

He holds Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Presidency College, Madras University and Master of Arts in Economics. He was state top rank holder and Gold medalist. He was President of Presidency College Union. He loves research and teaching profession. To pursue his goal he moved to USA and joined Pittsburgh university, there he obtained his PhD in economics.

He was working as Asst. Professor in PSG Arts College, Coimbatore for one year. After obtained his Phd in university of Pittsburgh, there he teaches Economics for nearly 25 years and he was Director of the Graduate School of Business Management at University of Baltimore. In 1989 he resigned from his teaching job to become entrepreneur.

He formed PGP group of companies to start Cement factory, Sugar factory, Hotels, and Education Institutes.
- Started Dharani Sugars & Chemicals Limited in Vasudevanallur, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu and one more unit in Polur, Tirunelveli with production capacity of 2500 TCD.
- Built and owns Delux 5 star hotel Le Royal Meridien, in Chennai. It has 243 rooms.
- Started Dharani Cements in Ariyalur Tamilnadu. Birla group acquired this unit from PGP group.
- As a Educationalist he started PGP College of Engineering & Technology, PGP College of Arts and Science, PGP Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, PGP Polytechnic and PGP I.T.I in Namakkal.
- Dharani travels is handling Air ticket for Indian air lines and Jet airways, Indian tourism and car rentals.
