Pakkam Kottur

Pakkam Kottur is a small village in Tamil Nadu, a southern state of [[India]. The nearest town of significant size which is Tiruvarur which is 16 km away, Mayiladuthurai is 30 km and Nagapattinam is around 20 km away. There is an irregular bus service from Tiruvarur daily. The nearest railway station was 3 kilometres away in Visalur but the introduction of bus services put an end to the Visalur station in 1988. Now the nearest railway station is Nannilam. The village boasts of a bank, post office and other basic amenities. There is a primary school in the village but those wishing to get a secondary education need to go to Enangudi, 2 km away. Majority of the village people are Muslims, and most of the male are working in foreign countries like Singapore, Kuwait, and UAE.In the beginning of 2000 most of the youths are turned to sound admosphere and parents of them are encouraged to study well at present they are going to be graduates. Mr.Abdul Rahman is doing to his sound role in the President of Muslim Panchayath relationship committee. We really proud of Dr.Haji Mohamed Bin Abdul Majid who has been working in Malaysian University as a Dean. In Pakkam kottur 450 houses and around 30 graduates in this village. Many of them are working as a professional in overseas. Some of them are having own business, and farms.
