Pakistan football league system

The Pakistan football league system is the national football competition in Pakistan. It is organized by the Pakistan Football Federation and is consists of 4 levels. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, and allows even the smallest club to dream of rising to the very top of the system.

[edit] Pakistan Premier League

The Pakistan Premier League, composed of 14 teams. Each year, two team is relegated on the basis of fewest points earned per match played over three seasons. This system generally assures that well-supported clubs will not be relegated on the basis of one poor season. The relegated teams are replaced by the top two teams from the Pakistan Football Federation League.

12 teams compete to play in the PPL, the top two are promoted, while the bottom two clubs are relegated to the C Division.

The league is made up of teams who have been selected from the 8 provincial D Divisions. The top two teams are promoted to the PFFL. The rest play in the D Division leagues the following season.
