Paint protection film

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paint protection film (PPF) is a thermoplastic urethane film that is applied to the painted surfaces of a new or used car in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatter and minor abrasions. It is professionally installed by manufacturers' certified applicators using pre-cut kits that are computer cut for a specific car.

Paint protection film is applied using a fitting solution which is usually soap based. This acts to retard the adhesive so as allow the installation without bubbles and creases. The adhesive used is typically an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive, this means the adhesive only grabs when pressure is applied.

The film is manufactured by 4 main companies 3M, Llumar, Bekaert and Avery Dennison. The film is installed by distributors and dealers in most markets. For more information: justPPF
