Paint Rock is a town in Concho County, Texas, United States. In 2000, its population was 320. It is the seat of Concho County[3].

The town's name comes from Indian pictographs painted on cliffs overlooking the nearby Concho River.

Paint Rock is located at 31°30'28" North, 99°55'24" West (31.507777, -99.923277)[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.3 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 320 people, 110 households, and 83 families residing in the town. The population density was 192.7 people per square mile (74.4/km²). There were 126 housing units at an average density of 75.9/sq mi (29.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 77.19% White, 28.44% Hispanic or Latino, none Black or African American, 2.81% Native American, none Asian or Pacific Islander, 19.69% from other races, and 0.31% from two or more races.

There were 110 households out of which 41.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.5% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families. 21.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.45.

In the town the population was spread out with 30.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 86.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $32,500, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $21,786 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $12,965. About 13.0% of families and 15.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 24.7% of those under age 18 and 11.1% of those age 65 or over.
