Paiján has been for many years the most important archaeological complex of the north coast because of its influence and territorial extension. Located principally between the vales of Virú and Pacasmayo, Paiján influenced with its skill lítica up to Piura for the north and Ica for the south, it is to this influence what is named a tradition paijense. The archaeological complex consists of camps outdoors, quarries and workshops. It is still not known by accuracy to which chronological status Paiján belongs.
