Pahrah

Pahrah is a city in Western Balochsitan. It is the site where Alexander the Great celebrated and regrouped his troops after his Indian conquest.

Pahrah of Western Balochsitan is now called Iran-shahr (Iranshahr). Westeran Balochsitan is now part of Iran, and Balochistan va Sistan is one of Iran's provinces. In the history books Pahrah is mentioned as Poora, Poorah, Pura which are the different spelling of Pahrah. Pahrah's name was changed to Iranshahr by Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi around the year 1937 after Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi change Persia's name to Iran in 1935.

Pahrah used to be the center of Balochistan governments and it was invaded and conquered numerous times during the course of history. Bampoor is also one of Pahrah's districts where the ancient Bampoor fort is located.
