  • pago (pronounced "paygo"), an electronic and mobile payment service that allows anyone with a New Zealand bank account to send cleared funds to another person or participating retailer in real-time; launched in November 2006. Participants acquire a pago virtual wallet and then send payments mobile-to-mobile or via the Internet. pago depends on ASB and BankDirect's real-time system, leveraging ASB's knowledge of interbank systems. All New Zealanders regardless of banking-habits, mobile-network affiliation or email provider may use the service. Participating on-line merchants listed by pago include digiRAMA, nakedbus and HooHaa.
