Talk:Paddy O'Brien (referee)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paddy O'Brien is incompetent to hold the position as head of IRB refereeing.
As head of the global rugby refereeing effort, Paddy should be demanding a high standard of excellence from all referees appointed during the 2007 premier rugby event. Instead, he defends inadequately the disgraceful refereeing of novice Wayne Barnes. He criticises New Zealand supporters for feeling strongly about a match outcome heavily influenced by the match referee. Paddy, you can't objectively justify Barnes selection, let alone his woeful performance. Granted, the All Blacks contributed to the loss with some poor decisions, but you cannot deny Wayne Barnes also contributed to the gifting of at least 10 points to the French. We will never know in a different sequence of events whether the outcome might have been different.
However, Paddy you grow up and be professional enough to admit the standard of refereeing was not good enough(fullstop). And don't bother ever coming back to NZ, you've lost the values and integrity which makes kiwi's special, and you're not welcome in our culture.
