Padye Brahmin community hails from Goa,commanly known as "Bhatt" ,they speak a unique dialect of Konkani known as "Bhati Bhasha".

Padye Brahmins belong to Panch Dravida group of Brahmins and is a sub-caste of Karhade Brahmin community.Majority of Padye people are found in Goa,due to many socio-economic reasons they settled in the neighboring states of Maharashtra,Karnataka, and some parts of Kerala. It is believed that roots of this community are in Karhatak ( present day Karhad ) in Maharashtra.They are essentially Rigvedi Brahmins and follow the Ashwalayana Sutra.Padyes belong to 13 Gotras and are predominatly Smarthas and worship different aspects of Shakti and Shiva.
