Padthaway, South Australia

Padthaway (36°36′S, 140°29′E, population 218) is a town on the Riddoch Highway in the south-east of South Australia, halfway from Keith to Naracoorte. The name is derived from the Potawurutj Aboriginal name for Good Water.

Padthaway is in the Tatiara District Council, the state electorate of MacKillop and the federal Division of Barker. The postcode is 5271.

Padthaway is also the name of a wine region surrounding the town. It is home to a variety of large commercial vineyards (the oldest established in 1964), but only a few cellar doors. Many of Australia's best known wine labels grow grapes here. including henry's drive and morambo creek.

Padthaway has a few sports clubs including Netball, Football, Cricket and Tennis. The 15 & UA team for the netball club won the premiership this year!! Padthaway has many other sporting achievements within the town. footy and netball teams are called the lions and they play in the kntfl and kntna. although dark years recently for the footy they have won the premiership, in 1993.

Padthaway is a very generous welcoming community and has many different social gatherings with in the town. Although a small town Padthaway is a very great town!!


all younger children aged 4 to 13 go to school at the primary school, when they finish there schooling there they take a 40 minute bus trip to narracoorte high school every day.
