Patricia "Paddy" Croft was born in Worthing, Sussex, England, daughter of an Irish mother and an English father. She is a character actress who almost always plays Irish roles onstage, in movies and on television. Croft was a friend of the late Irish-born American actress, Pauline Flanagan.
Croft's date of birth is a very well-kept secret. She is most likely a dual citizen of the United States and Republic of Ireland.[citation needed]
Croft is affiliated with the Irish Repertory Theater in NYC; in 2005 she appeared as Madge in a revival of Brian Friel's Philadelphia, Here I Come; in 2006 she is performing in The Field at the same theater. She also appeared in Hugh Leonard's Da.
