Padang Besar

Padang Besar Chinese "巴东勿刹" is a border town located at northern part of Perlisstate in Malaysia. It is situated on the border with Songkhla province, Thailand, 35 kilometers northeast of Kangar and about 70km southeast of Hatyai. The town opposite Padang Besar in Thailand is also known as Padang Besar, although locals here usually refer to the town as "Pekan Siam" or Siamese town.

The town is a popular destination for Malaysians because of the duty-free open markets in the neutral territory between the two countries, the town also known as town of bargain. The town attract few thousands of visitor from Peninsular of Malaysia and Southern Thailand in every weekend and public holiday.

The town act as the checkpoint for road and railway due to the town located near to Thailand.
