Padang Besar (Thailand)

Padang Besar (Thai: ปาดังเบซาร์) is a border town of the Malaysia-Thailand border in the Sadao district, Songkhla province, Thailand. Since 2004 the municipality has town status (thesaban mueang) and covers parts of the subdistrict (tambon) Padang Besar. As of 2007 it has a population of 13,748.[1]

The municipality was created as a sanitary district (sukhaphiban) in 1967.[2] Like all sanitary district, it was upgraded to a subdistrict municipality (thesaban tambon) in 1999.[3] Effective November 8 2004 it was upgraded to town (thesaban mueang).[4]
