[edit] restore the house to its original Tudor character

This is misleading as it suggests that the building that exists is a restoration, whereas it is rather a pastiche of a Tudor house. Very little is original, and much of it was built by taking panelling, floors and walls from mansion houses that were being demolished. So its original Tudor is that of a farmhouse, which is not as it appears today. (There aren't any good online references about this. The NT have apparently been updating their presentation of the history of this house which is misleadingly documented on the web. Next time I'm there I'll get some of their info, if nobody beats me to it. Dogbiscuit (talk) 14:58, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
