Packson Ngugi is one of the few Kenyan actors who have immensely contributed to theatre development in the country. He has played a myriad roles in different and plays and movies. His appearance in different Kenyan TV commercials has also endeared him to his fans. Although he performed dismally as a host of a hitherto popular TV show, OMO PICK A BOX in the late 1990s, most Kenyans still consider him a force to reckon with both on stage and on the screen. His latest feat has been his role as a motuary attendant in the award winning movie The Constant Gardener by Jeffrey Caine. Besides acting, Ngugi has also played a pivotal role as a casting agent for many productions in Nairobi. In the mid 1990s, Ngugi joined actors like the late Joni Nderitu, Paul Onsongo and BMJ Muriithi in holding demonstrations on the streets of Nairobi to protest the planned acquisition of Kenya National Theatre by the adjacent Norfolk Hotel, an action that made the Kenyan government rescind its decision.
