[edit] Lord of the Flies

Not bad form at all, I appreciate the correction. Not sure what I was thinking; but it was probably the nationalism in me trying to turn Golding into an American =). It's now fixed. As a sidenote, your comment proves that people do look at my userpage (all the time I have put into it is not a waste!). Thanks! --Spangineer (háblame) 15:58, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism question

How is editing YOUR OWN PAGE from THE SAME IP AS IT'S LISTED UNDER "vandalism" you fucking mongoloid?--59.105.17.165 09:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Mainly because it's not 'your' page. Removal of warnings from talk pages is vandalism. pablomismo|\talk 10:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adam Heyer

Sir. The short article i wrote regarding Adam Heyer was from a verifiable source ( the life and times of Alcapone) so put that in your pipe and smoke it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Therenegade07 (talkcontribs) 07:13, 24 June 2007

Replied on your talk page. I don't smoke a pipe. pablomismo|\talk 12:26, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Argos Translations/page protection

Hi. Yes, I see it's been deleted four times already. Only an administrator can protect a page against recreation by normal users, and is usually done at their own discretion for articles that get recreated repeatedly to the point of becoming a nuisance. You can request protection at WP:RFP - just follow the instructions there (read WP:PROT first if you're not familiar with Wikipedia's protection policies). ~Matticus TC 17:04, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Notability of Ryan Trecartin (Activist)

This is an article about a particular individual who helped lead to the awareness of the Liger. Her "notablility" is that she is of a very small group of individuals that promote this awareness. Without her promoting awareness of the Liger, it is very likely that this species of animal could become extinct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikimaster789 (talkcontribs) 20:48, 30 June 2007

Really? Without sources to back this up, it doesn't look notable. Try Google to see if there are any matches for the string +"Ryan Trecartin" +Liger, that would be a start. pablomismo|\talk 21:01, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wait... second means second?

Don't use 'sophomore' (whch means nothing to most people) when you mean 'second' (which means second). Please.

Last time I looked "second" meant a unit of time... nah, just givin' ya shit. You have a point. There's a lot of misuse of the term "sophomore" because people like to seem more intelligent by using words that are often introduced in a tertiary setting, but this is an American trait where to use the longer versions of words seems the cool thing to do... or so I've observed. --lincalinca 03:48, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Where

Where is the "article talk page" button located? I got the "your page will most likely be deleted because it features blatant advertising" message, and need to leave a message for the administrators on the talk page to dispute their claim.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Cinephile333 (talkcontribs) 21:36, 4 July 2007)

There are a row of tabs at the top of the article above its title. The first says "article" the second says "discussion". Click on that one one and it will take you to the article's talk page. You can sign your posts by entering four tildes, like this ~~~~. pablo|\talk 21:40, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia/aidepikiW

I thought it was funny too. Too bad the whole API thing managed to wind up in there. That page'll be deleted and you'll have nowhere to go for a mirror of the original article when all hell breaks loose. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MoreThanMike (talkcontribs) 06:02, 5 July 2007

We'll just have to take a chance on that. You could try Uncyclopedia. pablo|\talk 08:18, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Danny M. Francis

Hi Pablomismo, Just so that you know, when an article is an exact copy of another website or whatever, the article can be speedy deleted, which is faster and more efficient that the Copyvio route. See WP:CSD for more info. It was a great catch though! I will hop on over and nominate it for speedy deletion. Slp1 21:51, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I see the permission on the talkpage now, so forget it! Sorry --Slp1 21:55, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
There was no permission earlier though! pablo|\talk 23:04, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Living waters

Interesting question, which we are now trying to straighten out at WT:CSD--the original wording was "groups" and it was interpreted as meaning bands and clubs. I think the intention is still the same, but who can say what the consensus around here will develop?. In the meantime, it's safer to use prod--which generally works just as well. I almost always use prod myself, though I have the ability to delete in a single step.

My feeling on the immediate issue is that anything which would be known to give rise to a controversy at AfD should be speedied, and local churches and congregations generally do. There is no real consensus on them or other local articles (incidentally, I almost always say to delete them, but there are one or two people who speak up for them all. ) And more generally, there's been a problem with people nominating articles on probably notable people or things for speedy as non-notable, or no content. So some admins who have been actually deleting when it doesnt match the rules have been getting flack, & I want to stay far clear of that. DGG (talk) 20:09, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

OK, but seeing as the template itself cites "It is an article about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of the subject. " (my emboldening) then I'm quite happy with speedy deletion rather than prod. Otherwise why is this article more legitimate than Tunbridge Wells Psychopathic Gay Society or any other group of people?

[edit] Warning users for nonsense pages.

A few words of advice: when warning users who created nonsense pages, use {{subst:nonsensepages|the page's title}}. It gives a better, more relevant warning. Thanks, Bart133 (t) (c) 23:48, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

You can always use {{subst:test1article|article name}} instead. Bart133 (t) (c) 23:57, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I am not vandilising Wikipedia...

Don't just assume because a piece of information is new that someone is vandalising Wikipedia...

What do you actually know about Aspergers?

Do you have it?

Moron

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Marktinley (talkcontribs) 19:50, 8 July 2007

copied from User talk:Marktinley
I assume you are referring to the article Aspergineering which, if I remember correctly is a term you coined. I nominated it for deletion because, as it says above, it is a non-notable neologism. It has now been deleted three times so it would seem that I'm not the only one who thinks this. Your statement claiming you are not "vandilising Wikipedia" is weakened by the facts; you've reposted deleted material and you have left an uncivil and abusive message.
Whether I have Asperger's is no concern of yours or anyone else's.
Finally, you can sign your message on talk pages by typing four tildes ~~~~; this will save any confusion, your message on my talk page looks like it is signed "Moron".

[edit] John Donoghue disambiguation

Hi

Your question of what I was doing with the bare disambiguation page came in the middle of a series of small edits I was making. I noticed that the link to John Donoghue provided on a list of distinguished Brown alumni and faculty was in fact a link to an article about a 19th century pioneer of Australia. I had never done a disambiguation page before, and after a brief trip to the sandbox, I tried it out on the new page.

Thanks for providing those helpful links.  :)
