[edit] Playing career

[edit] Club

Cronin plays his club hurling with the Bishopstown club in Cork. He has enjoyed some success with the club, culminating in the winning of a premier intermediate county title in 2006. Cronin has yet to win a senior county title with the side.

[edit] Inter-county

Cronin first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork minor hurling team in 2004. That year he won a Munster title, however, Cork were later defeated in the All-Ireland series. In 2005 Cronin was captain of the team as he captured a second consecutive Munster title. Once again the team was later defeated in their hunt for an All-Ireland title. By 2006 Cronin had joined the Cork senior hurling team, however, he played no part in the county's championship campaign. He made his senior debut in the National Hurling League in 2007, before making his senior championship debut against Clare in the Munster quarter-final later that same year. That year he became one of Cork's chief scorers, capturing 3 goals and 7 points in his seven appearances. Unfortunately, Cork's season ended without a senior Munster or All-Ireland title. Cronin also played with the Cork under-21 hurling team that year and added a Munster medal to his collection.
