From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

P.S. 144 is a local elementary school in Forest Hills. The zoned middle school for P.S. 144 is I.S. 190 Russel Sage.

[edit] Grades

The school has the grades pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. It has two pre-kindergarten classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. There are 3-4 classes in every other grade. Each grade has computers, science, physical education (referred to as gym in most of the classrooms if not all), art, math, and literacy. The fifth grade, which is the last grade for most elementary schools, is the only grade in P.S. 144 that takes ballroom dancing.

[edit] Art

Ballroom is one of the most popular of the arts among the students in P.S. 144. A select few of the best dancers form a team which competes against other schools. The school was featured in Mad Hot Ballroom, a documentary on ballroom dancing among children.

The school has many artists come in and produce many pieces of art. One example of this is the Tiffany designs students made, which is displayed at the Queens Museum of Art.

Every year the sixth grade learns Broadway dance.
