[edit] Biography
Diaz was born in Bronx, New York of both Puerto Rican and Cuban decent to Jesse Diaz, a former music producer and an unknown mother, who was addicted to drugs during the younger years of Diaz' life. Diaz and her older sister both were in foster care for four years during her mother’s drug problem and while their father was locked up in jail. After his release, he then gained custody of the girls and moved them from the Bronx to Harlem in Manhattan.[1] She first began rapping at the age of six, informing her father she could spit, which is slang for rhyming or rapping out verses.[2] Diaz was a lead vocalist on the albums Niños Vol. 1 and 2 on the Reggaeton Niños music collection.[3] She also made an appearance on MTV’s reality show Made at the age of ten, in which she battled an aspiring rapper twice her age.[4] Diaz was signed to Hunc Records, a record label based in Harlem and will release her debut album, Welcome to My Show in the spring of 2008. The singles from the album include "Wanna Make You Dance", "Biggie Bounce" and "It Takes Two", featuring fellow rapper and Hunc Records client Young B.. Diaz currently is an online interviewer of Teen Online Diaries.com and owns her own company called Diaz Family Entertainment.
Diaz is also credited for creating and choreographing her own workout video titled Exercise Your Body and Mind in 2007. She came up with the idea for a workout DVD after she watched a report on television about the alarming rates of obesity in African-Americans and Hispanic-Americans. On the DVD, Diaz is shown teaching dance and exercise routines alongside adult and children participants on the video as well as Young B. and singer Megan Rochell.[5]
[edit] Acting
Diaz appeared in an Off-Broadway play, You Can Take the Train to Maine and in a short movie in 2005 titled Sita, in which she played a girl dying of AIDS. She shot two pilots for Nickelodeon titled P.Star and Angela and The Adventures of Super Jane.[6] However, it is unknown if the television shows will premiere on television.
[edit] Awards
Diaz won eight beauty pageant titles in Harlem, including Little Miss Harlem at age nine. She also won an award from The City Wide Youth Organization for Best MC in 2005.
