[edit] Club career
Šteinbors began his career at Skonto FC in 2001 and signed with FK Jūrmala in January 2004.[1] Over Christmas 2007, he went on trial at Blackpool, where he impressed the coaching staff.[2] On 16 January 2008 German 2nd Bundesliga club, FC Augsburg reported that Šteinbors' was on trial during the club's training camp in Faro, Portugal.[3] However, on 31 January 2008 he signed a loan deal with Blackpool until the end of the 2007-08 season, with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season. [2] A deal was reached with FK Jūrmala and Blackpool had an option to keep him for a further year after the end of the loan period.[4] Šteinbors joined fellow countryman and current Latvian international, Kaspars Gorkšs, at Bloomfield Road. He returned to Latvia at the end of the loan period, having featured regularly in Blackpool's reserve team but not in the first team.
