Hey, drop me a message.
[edit] "Metadata", picture clicking
Hi. Metadata ("data about data") on Wikipedia is the stuff like category and interwiki links, i.e. data about a page's content. So, when a page is copied from the main part of the encyclopedia (like an article or template) to a page outside the main encyclopedia (like a userpage), any category/interwiki links copied with it ought to be disabled, otherwise the page outside starts appearing in categories alongside articles etc from the main encyclopedia and/or claims to have versions in other languages. Hope that makes some sense.
I don't know much about handling images, but this might be what you need. If it's not and/or isn't sufficiently well-documented, there might be more clues on its talk page, otherwise I guess you could try messaging one of its editors for advice (or maybe someone who posted on the talkpage). If you get nowhere, send me another message and I'll try educating myself about it for the benefit of us both. Sardanaphalus (talk) 11:20, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
PS "AWB" is this, if you didn't already know.
[edit] Using non-free images outside articles
[edit] Copyrighted images on userboxes
A non-free image was recently removed from one or more of your userboxes. Please be advised that Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Wikipedia policy does not allow templates (which includes userboxes) or user pages to contain any copyrighted content not under a free license; so, for example, claims under "fair use" are explicitly rejected. This clause is to be interpreted strictly and without exception, for legal reasons. You can research Wikipedia's non-free content policy for more details.
I hope this does not discourage you from creating more userboxes; your contributions to Wikipedia are greatly appreciated. For images and other media that are freely available for use in userpages and userboxes, check out Wikimedia Commons. Thank you. Skomorokh 14:05, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
