Ozias Bvute

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ozias Bvute is the controversial chief executive of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union. He replaced Vincent Hogg as chief executive in 2005 and is regarded as a being a supporter of Zanu-PF. He has been one of the leading figures behind the politically motivated shift in Zimbabwe cricket.

Bvute had been the director since 2001 and headed up the marketing and integration committees. As part of the integration committee he was accused of creating a racial quota in the Zimbabwean team which led to many established white players being omitted.

The tension between him and Zimbabwean cricketers has been well documented. He is said to have kicked Henry Olonga off the team bus during the World Cup after his black-armband protest.
