Ozark Empire is the second studio album by The Listener (Dan Smith). All of the album's production was done by Nashville's EQ (David Goddard).

Ozark Empire is a concept album about a traveling knife salesman. Dan Smith writes in the the album's booklet:

"It is a story about a salesman, a husband, and a father. He's a cheater, he lies, he drinks too much, he fantasizes about beating his wife. He's never happy with what he has, and is always getting into debt trouble because of it. I decided to tell you his story in this way so you could be able to watch out for traces of his lifestyle patterns in your own life. Some of this record is about me, but it doesn't matter what parts."
