oyz is a nick-name for SungEun Jo.
He was born in Seoul, Korea, in 1974. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electronic and electrical engineering from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, Korea, in 1997, 1999 and 2005, respectively.
He is currently a postdoctoral researcher with the Computer Science Department, Stanford University, Stanford, CA, where he is working for Prof. Gene H. Golub, investigating real-time algorithms relating to total least squares (TLS). His research interests include numerical methods and optimization for systems and control, data analysis based on TLS or errors-in-variables (EIV) modeling, and applications of equality constrained minimization in adaptive algorithms such as the affine projection algorithm and the normalized LMS filtering.

[edit] Research interests
- Signal processing based on Matrix analysis
Identifying MIMO systems, and estimating model/data uncertainty via total least squares (TLS). Approximating low-dimensional SVD with low-complexity or near-closed form. Combining Bi-/Tri-diagonal or Hessenberg-like decomposition with MIMO modem algorithms. Revealing the connection between redundant decomposition seeding and MIMO pre-coding/beam-forming.
- Data analysis in adaptive filtering
Analyzing and stabilizing adaptive least-square filters and real-time algorithms in a view of regularization. Parallelizing least squares algorithms based on projection subspaces. Investigating sampled data or matrix based on Principal/Minor component analysis (PCA and MCA) or singular subspaces.
- Algorithms in embedded systems
Programming a prototype of FPGA based on a good knowledge of hardware interface in real-time applications. Implementing numerical algorithms to update matrix factorizations based on plane rotations and/or reflections. Realizing other complex algorithms on embedded sampled data acquisition systems.
- Robust least squares approach by means of seqular equation to get around sensitivity problems
Interpretating errors-in-varables modeling as a non-stastical data-fitting method. Developing an efficient implementation of regularized TLS. Innovating various constraints on secular functions of TLS.
