Oxton, Scottish Borders

Oxton is a village in the Scottish Borders, Scotland. It is 5 miles north of Lauder and 19 miles south of the Dalkeith and Edinburgh. It currently growing but contains only one shop and a pub, The Tower Hotel, commonly known as "The Toor" to local people. The thriving primary school for the area is Channelkirk Primary School and is located in the centre of the village. The village is just off the A68. The population of Oxton has often been referred to as the "country bumpkins of British Society."
Historically the name was sometimes recorded as Ugston in the 18th century.
