As a pupil for almost nine years, I agree that the school is highly competetive, highly academic and not always a very fun place to be because of that. However, I wouldn't say that the school's atmosphere is actually "oppresive and threatening", and more to the point that is not factual, so I have removed that and rewritten the addition of information about the Freud case in a more balanced way.
I have also heard mental health workers make the accusations (mentioned in the 5th May edit) that the school has an unusually high rate of eating disorders, but I do not believe they are statistically supported- indeed, I would be surprised if we had a higher rate of eating disorders than, for example, Headington School. The school's atmosphere isn't entirely the fault of the school- it's pushy parents that send their children there and pushy parents that make their children overcompetetive and anorexic.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.93.21.70 (talk • contribs) .
I'm concerned about the lack of evidence for some of the claims being made in this article - if those who made them could post links or cite sources for their claims, even if only on the discussion page here, then we can cite them properly in the article - however, if these claims do not have any evidence to support them they will need to be removed. --Firetrap 23:02, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Hello, this is another user, a student who currently attends Oxford High School. In response to Fire-twat, it must have been difficult for him, being male, to experience the all-female environment but, nevertheless, congratulations are due for being able to acheive this feat. Ah, a reply! Good to see that some people are looking to the talk page of this article :) It is indeed a single sex school for women, and, as quickly deduced, I don't go there, no (although, to say it is an "all-female enviroment"[sic] would be wrong, with male staff being employed, and I am not without knowledge of the facility myself). My problem lies not with the fact that people hold that opinion, but with the fact that it is just that - an opinion, and I have yet to see any factual evidence that supports this POV, although I realise that this may be hard to come across if it does not exist. Okhehehey....why did you say you went to the school in your first entry but in the second you deny this point. I think as an ACTUAL student of the school my opinion should be more highly valued than yours- some random guy who decided to post here claiming to be a student in an all-female school. And here in lies the trouble with not signing your messages off! If you check the page history, the first two paragraphs were not posted by myself, coming from a different IP address than the IP address I post under - to emphasise the different posters, I have added tags to the end of each person's post - to do this yourself, you can simply click the "Your signature with timestamp" button at the top of the edit window when you have finished writing your reply. I hope this removes any confusion over supposed contradictions! As the first user to comment on this discussion page (though my IP address will show up as different), I have been trying to make this article more factual. I go to OHS too (Y13), and I don't like the place, but just because you have a personal connection to somewhere doesn't mean you can write your or someone else's opinion in an encyclopaedia and try to pass it off as a piece of information. Save the name-calling and lesbian gossip stories for Bebo.

195.93.21.8 / 195.93.21.70 - I'd read The Independent's article but it'd slipped my mind when adding the tag - many thanks for pointing that out! I've added a direct link to the article rather then establish an entire "Sources" section for the OHS page (whilst still leaving the link under the External links section) - there aren’t enough sources at the moment to warrant an entire new section for sources, imo at least - if anyone thinks otherwise though, do say! i have been at the high school for 6 years (including the junior dept) and i hate it so much! There is far too much presssure on the students to be perfect and when this is told to the teachers then they say that they never put the pressure on and it is the puils problem. You're supposed to discuss the article, not the school. I am wary about quoting the school fees in the article because these vary depending on the age of the student- junior, senior and sixth-form fees are all different. It would be good to note that OHS fees are relatively low compared to similar schools, although I don't know what could be used as verification for this. BeehiveC 19:35, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
